This ranking is based on criteria related to the time it takes for container vessels to complete the loading and unloading of containers at a port throughout the entire year of 2023.
The CPPI index shows the operational efficiency of ports, particularly in how they receive and handle container vessels. This index is calculated based on factors related to the time a vessel spends entering the channel, docking at the port, the productivity of loading and unloading goods, the total volume of goods per trip, and the time it takes for the vessel to leave the port. Additionally, factors such as the use of large, more fuel-efficient vessels and the use of digital information technology are also taken into account.
In 2023, Cai Mep Port Cluster climbed 5 spots to join the Top 7 most efficient container ports globally.
One of the important factors for the Cai Mep Port Cluster to achieve such a high ranking is the smart port model with modern equipment, high digital transformation index, and the application of advanced technology. As a prime example of a smart port model, Gemalink International Port is proud to have made a very significant contribution to raising the CPPI Index of the Cai Mep Port Cluster.
Located at the river mouth with the deepest draft and accommodating the largest vessels entering the Cai Mep area, Gemalink Port – part of Gemadept’s Port – Logistics ecosystem – has a total berth length of nearly 1.5 km and a total capacity of up to 3 million TEUs per year across both phases. It can simultaneously receive 3 mother vessels and 5 feeders and river vessels coming in and out to handle cargo.
Recently, Gemalink Port has attracted an increasing number of the world’s largest and smartest vessels from leading shipping lines, demonstrating Gemalink’s capabilities and the trust customers have in Gemadept as a reliable partner in the development process.
Gemadept is committed to developing a green and smart port model, further contributing positively to the Cai Mep Port Cluster in particular, and the Vietnamese and global maritime industry in general.
